Looks like there is a meeting under the tent this morning. Apparently a meeting of the owners. Boy … I should go down there! Well, it’s definitely better than a wedding reception. One good thing that came of it though, they decided to unlock the gate between us and Smuggler’s Cove…that will make it easier to get to!
We had a bunch of kids come in last night at 1:30am. You’d of thought it was the middle of the darned day with as much noise as they made – hollering and stomping up the stairs. Hello! People are sleeping! (or trying to anyway). Then some more came in talking loud and slamming doors at 3am. Ugh! (geeze I’m getting old!) I guess they are here for the fair. Can you imagine traveling somewhere to go to a fair! =) They probably came from St. Thomas.
I’m learning that one bad thing about being away from home… when friends or family need you … you can’t be there. So I’ve thought it over and I think you all should move where we are (wherever we land)... It would make me feel much better. Thanks for your cooperation.
We took off to Christiansted tonight hoping to go to the Brew Pub, but we couldn’t find a spot reasonably close to park. We were going to take a taxi, but we had a little problem getting one…guess they are all busy with the fair. Oh well – might as well use the car we rented. And speaking of busy, Christiansted was. We drove around and around looking for a place to park. After about 3 tours of the city, there was almost blood drawn (between driver and nagagator)! Passed a couple of parking lots but they were pretty far from where we wanted to go.
Gotta tell you. It’s creepy driving around Christiansted at night. All those old historic buildings and tiny alleyways barely wide enough for a couple of large people to walk down, with eerie shadows cast by the dim street lights and bright full moon. The stores aren’t generally open at night and they close the shutters – so they look boarded up. Some buildings are abandoned, or in a state of decay from past hurricanes or no upkeep, and they have plants, moss and mold growing out of the cracks and crevices. Kinda like a scene from Interview with a Vampire. Very old New Orleans. Gives me the heebie-jeebies!
Well, after a while, we just gave up and decided to not go to the BrewPub until we could get a taxi and just headed out of Christiansted. Unfortunately it goes from a one way to a two way street, and every time we got to that spot, we were on the wrong side! It’s hard to see at night anyway and the streets aren’t marked…which doesn’t help! Once we even turned around in the middle of this party that was going on in an old gas station parking lot! Like I said…lots of “conversations” between driver and nag-agator. We ended up at Cheeseburgers again because it was easy to get to. Not real good entertainment. I think anyone who can reasonably pick a guitar can get a gig here! Oh well. We had a drink and I ordered some chips and hummus. It should have been labeled chips and garlic because it was so strong…I’d venture to say there was only about 3 beans in the whole dish! The rest was garlic cloves! Won’t have to worry about vampires now…or friends. Plus it will keep Gerald on his side of the bed! =)
After finishing our drinks we headed back to the condo. We stopped in at Breezes next door, but nothing was going on there. Then we pulled in to the condo and went over to Smugglers Cove. There was a great guitar player there! We had a drink and listened till he quit playing, then came back home. The electricity went off at about 11:30 … just about the time the kids came home - making noise. It wasn’t off too long though…just in time to go to sleep!
