Sunday, December 5, 2010:

This morning is cool, cloudy and rainy.  And there is no electricity. We didn’t get up in time to make coffee either.  Bananas for breakfast then! I step out on the deck and there are a gazillion mosquitoes on the ceiling and walls! AAAAHH!  I guess it’s so cold even they aren’t moving! Thank goodness!  That could have been an Off commercial! Yikes! I light some skeeter coils to see if that will get rid of them…hopefully!  It doesn’t even phase them! We won’t be going out there…in case a warm breeze comes and wakes them up!

I wasn’t going to go with Gerald to the ball game this morning, but he left the bridge pass here and had to come back, so I just put a ball cap on and off we went.
On the way to the park we see the electric company and guys working on the lines.  Looks like they are replacing rusting components on the poles.  Hope they get it all done!

We get to the park and looks like a mix of people.  A couple of girls, a couple in their 30’s, 20’s and lots of teens.  It appears that maybe it’s some school kids that they are trying to teach how to play ball. When we go there the score was 14/0 – the young school kids were losing. But after a couple of innings they are getting the hang of it, and before too long, the score is 15/13. There doesn’t seem to be enough gloves for everyone, so they are sharing. Luckily the batters and catcher are wearing helmets. Half aren’t even wearing any shoes!  It’s fun to watch and occasionally people stop, like us, to watch for a while.

After they finish the game, we head downtown to see if anything is open to get something to eat.  Surprisingly there are several open, but not too many people walking around.  We stop at Celi’s deli and I get the lunch special of rice and beans with stewed chicken and Gerald gets a club sandwich.  We cross the street and have our lunch on the beach side.  The lunch is pretty good.  I love the rice and beans!

When we got done with lunch, we went across the street to a couple of the souvenir stores to get Gerald a couple more shirts, since we needed to replace the ones that got ruined in the laundry. Most everything has Belikin Beer on it, and Gerald didn’t want that on his shirt, so it took looking in 2 stores to find a couple shirts that fit and that he liked.

We headed back to the condo and that was pretty much it for the day.
