Ok…this morning the neighbor is cutting his yard …with a weed whacker…at 7am. Good grief! Not that it’s a big yard, you don’t need a rider that’s for sure. In fact you could probably use scissors, but the weeds are (were) about 2ft+ high which is more like brush hogging! Guess you use what you have, but it could at least be later in the morning!
It’s still pretty windy, and it rained several times overnight and this morning. Last night I had to move the towels from the line to the chairs so they wouldn’t blow away, so this morning I hung them on the line again so they could dry out. Hopefully they will dry before we get to the beach. So far I only see 2 cruise ships in dock so it shouldn’t be too busy today.
We head to the beach to meet up with and share the last day with what’s left of the gang. They have to leave tomorrow! =( The wind wasn’t too bad, but it did pick up towards the end of the day, so you just turn your back to it and soak up the sun! Otherwise it was a relatively uneventful day on the beach. Come 4pm it was time to leave. Paul and Deb gave us some leftover food: rice, pasta, homemade spaghetti sauce (man does it smell yummy!), flour, sugar and crackers. They also gave us their chairs and umbrella, to use if we want, or store if we can with our things. We have 2 months to figure that one out! Paul helped Gerald take all the chairs and umbrellas to the car and Gerald brushed the excessive sand off and packed it in the car. Going to the beach does that. It’s almost a sandbox in there now! We’ll have to find a car wash/lavage soon! We came back to the apartment and clean up, then head back over to the French side to meet up with everyone.
We decided to meet for a farewell dinner tonight at one of the lolos in Grand Case, which is on the French side. There are several lolos there, but we haven’t decided which one we will eat at yet. As background, a lolo is basically a simple little restaurant that sells bbq’ed and grilled items. Simple fare with lots of sides! They generally have great food – like eating at your friend’s backyard bbq – and pretty cheap. But you have to be careful because the Euro is up to about $1.50 now! We drove through town, and as usual parking was a nightmare. We ended up parking our car in the lot in the middle of town and paid the $6 fee. We usually end up parking there anyway and it’s worth not having to walk 5 blocks. Plus you have the added benefit of someone semi-watching your car and even better, they gave us a coupon to use at one of the lolos for free drinks! Well, that just about paid for the parking! So it all worked out good anyway! We walked to the front of the lolos and met Mark and Bonnie. Since we had gotten the coupon from the parking attendant, we sat down at a lolo called “Sky’s the Limit”. They also gave us a €1=$1 which not all of them do – that alone would be worth 40%! We ordered our drinks and pretty soon Paul and Deb found us. The smell was wonderful! The grill chef didn’t look like he was much past 18 and there were pans and pans of side dishes. We order our dinner, and added a few Johnny Cakes to boot. They were yummy! I got an extra one to bring home!
We got our dinner and it was a plate full!
**Check out all the food you get!
Hey…I didn’t get my broccoli floret!
Calm down everybody! Bonnie gave me hers so I would have plenty to eat!
Try as I might, I couldn’t eat it all! (it was because I ate Bonnie's broccoli!) Neither could the rest, so we brought home leftovers. Mmmm…can’t wait for tomorrow! The rice and peas (beans) were yummy too. I should have gotten some of that to go too. Don’t know what they put in it, but its got some great flavor!
We finished dinner and had Sweetie take a picture of us!
Here is Sweetie and “Mark – The Really Really Nice Guy”!
**Here is the remaining gang: Mark (The Uber Nice Wonderful Guy), Bonnie, Paul, Deb, Me and Gerald!
**The kitchen was right behind us! Checkout all the smoke and dishes!

Dinning room next door!
It was getting late, 9pm, so it was time to go. Everyone was full and they had to get back and finish packing because they leave tomorrow. Now we won’t have any friends to play with on the beach! =(
We said our goodbyes and made sure we got dates of when we will all be here next year.
Mark (The Super Nice Guy) drove us up the road to our car so I didn’t have to walk so far (see…isn’t he nice!) and then gave us some of their leftover supplies, like plates, glasses, napkins, bacon and sausage! We won’t have to grocery shop for a long time! THANKS GUYS!!!
