Up this morning and going to head to the market and bakery to pick up supplies (I told you we go about every other day!). The big fish fry is tonight and we’ve got to make more food!
Got some video from last night, and will start to post. Bob sure had a good time anyway. He was Gerald’s rhythm section most of the night, armed with an instrument that consisted of a plastic Coke bottle filled with gravel and sand. That should clue you in on the evening! =) (personally, I think we may have to go see that Rastafarian on the Sidewalk/Main Street selling maracas) There were a few more locals…I think they really like country music here … and particularly Gerald’s singing!
I'll post the videos as soon as I can!
Looks like it will be a nice day, so Judy and I may just hang out at the pool today! Gerald and Bob are going to go fish slaying!
Here's a cool caterpillar we saw this morning on the Sidewalk. Cool huh?
I'll let you know how the fish fry goes!
Love to all!

Judy and I went to get bread from the bakery this morning but were too late – all the bread was gone but one little bun of foccacia, so we bought that to munch on. They told us we needed to be there by to get the bread before it is all sold. Oh well…we’ll send Gerald and Bob tomorrow.
We get extra zucchini and egg plant for grilling and more potatoes to add to what we already cooked because Alfred and others may come, plus more French bread to make garlic bread. (I love cooking with the fresh garlic here!).
All in all we end up at several stores (as usual) to get all the stuff we need, but we got it. We head home and start prep for dinner. Onion and garlic sautéing in butter and olive oil smells so good! We have garlic and onion in the potatoes, garlic bread, and I’ve mashed some garlic, olive oil, S/P, lime zest and juice to marinate the fish. Can’t wait till dinner!
In between dishes, Gerald teaches me a new game Bob and Judy taught him called Golf. It seems fun and something different!
Patty comes by and reminds us that sunset is coming and we need to get out there! Gerald and Bob are fishing, so they are already there.
Bob's big catch of the day.
Not sure, but we suspect Bob's bait-fish SAW the big one that got away!
Gerald's big catch of the day. (he did not see a big one!)
We grab our camera’s and out we go! It was a good sunset, and people from town come down to watch too. A couple just came from San Pedro, so we get some information from them. He said the bugs are bad there too. Great. Guess I better refill the bug spray. They haven’t been so bad the last few days since it’s been cooler.
We’re trying to finish thinks up but the oven doesn’t work so we can’t heat the garlic bread! Bummers! So I made a fast trip down to Patty’s place to see if I can borrow their oven for a bit. Unfortunately, their oven is not hooked up because she is having her floor repaired and they have disconnected it! Sharene comes to the rescue! YAY!
Everything is ready to go, and we all gather round the grill! Francisco grills the fish, zucchini and egg plant. Gerald helps. Sharene makes homemade guacamole and conch cevechi to start us off – it was yummy! We have a feast! Fish (barracuda, snapper, amberjack), fried potatoes, slaw, garlic bread, grilled zucchini and egg plant. It was all great!
The barracuda was the best. It had no fish flavor, and had the consistency of steak. I would eat that again in a heart beat! If you ever get the chance…do try it!
I’m full as can be and just want to go to bed, but the die-hards hit the hot tub! Patty and Jane have to pick up their sister in Belize City tomorrow, so they have to get an early start and pass. Me too…I’m going to finish this entry, shower and hit the hay!
G’nite all!
