Tuesday, March 15, 2011:

New people next door…noisy, of course.  They are also glaucoma suffers - apparently.  (or at least someone in this complex is!)

Gerald made his breakfast.  For lunch, I had some chips and salsa.  Gerald had a salami sandwich.  The leftovers are slowly dwindling.  Like I said, lima beans and croutons Friday!

I have to get ready so we can go check out the beaches and get one last good drive around the island before we have to give the car back tomorrow.  Then we go to Off the Wall open-mic tonight. Gerald was practicing, so you know he’s getting ready to play!

Update:

Well, we ran over to the beach.  It was a pretty nice beach.  Fairly calm waters, with a typical crescent shape.  It would almost have been perfect…except for the heap of garbage at the entrance.  Looks like no one has picked up the trash in quite a while.  Luckily it was not out in the open on the beach, but between some trees and bushes…but still.  Yuck!  And the road to get to it was reminiscent of Belize roads!

After we looked around, we decided to head to the casino and try our luck again.  The grass is awfully dry this time of year!

We parked and went inside.  Someone was at my favorite wining machine at the bar…so I played on a few others.  Didn’t win, but only lost a total of $5.  Not too bad.
We came out of the casino and walked towards the car and found a large 18 wheeler delivering water and blocking our car.  We asked him how long it would take for him to be done…he said an hour. Well we didn’t want to go back in the casino…dang…in an hour, I could lose a LOT of money!  Luckily, he had just gotten there and we were able to talk him into moving up a bit so we could get out! Phew!

We drove home and made some BLT’s (gotta use up the bacon and tomatoes!).  Then after dinner, we headed over to Off the Wall.  It went well, and of course Gerald got a large applause. They even put a tip can out when he was playing! (course we never got anything)  AND…he had the only dancers I have ever seen get up!  They were yelling for more! (videos are linked to U-Tube!)

We talked with another couple who had been vacationing here for years, and finally moved here in November.  We commiserated about ankles…she had broken hers a little over a year ago (still suffering) and he had just recently sprained his. I got some good advice about getting through the airport!  But not looking forward to a long recovery…I’ll be keeping the boot on whilst walking on the beach for sure!

This is the spot where the "incident" occurred.
The bane of my trip to St. Croix.
The rock that pushed me over the edge!

Back home quickly (cause I’m not using the gross uni-sex port-a-potty) then off to bed.  We have to get up early to scope out a couple pharmacies recommended to me to look for a cane, before we take the vehicle back to the car rental place!

Here is a sampling of some of the flora here at the condo...I love these bougainvillea! Such bright cheery colors! Flamingo Pink!
